New-Build Quality Control
We are seeing more and more boats roll off production lines with inherent structural issues, system faults and cosmetic deficiencies.
2020 to 2022 has been by far the busiest boat buying stretch in decades, maybe ever. Builders are producing more boats than ever before, all while battling supply chain issues and staff shortages. Because of this new reality, we have received more quality control requests for new builds over the past year than the previous 10 years combined. And there are no signs of the market slowing down.
Fortunately, we have extensive experience with quality control inspections on new boats. While working as a subcontractor and delivery captain for Viking Yachts in New Gretna, NJ, off-the-line QC was one of my primary responsibilies. Even though Viking has an excellent internal QC system already in place, subcontractors like myself are commonly used to catch even the smallest nitpicky issues that may have been missed. If anything, this speaks to why Viking is universally regarded as the highest quality production sportfish builder on the planet.
South Carolina is blessed to have over a dozen boat builders operating in the state. Most of which are right here in Charleston County. Whether you are a dealer, broker or a private buyer, if you have any concerns about the condition or performance of your new boat before you take delivery, give us a call to discuss our Quality Control Inspection process.
